Seance

“Seance,” is a new photography book by Shannon Taggart, which documents the practice of Spiritualism (communications with spirits of the dead). Over an eighteen year period, Shannon was given access to the Spiritualist communities of Lily Dale (New York) and The Arthur Findlay College (Essex, England). From the press release, “Her images, often candid and searching, provide a rare insight into a community and process that seems little changed since the artist Hilma af Klint consulted her spirit guide at the turn of the last century.”

Shannon is based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work has been exhibited in TIME, New York Times Magazine and Newsweek.
