Fotografiska (NYC) has partnered with Black Artist Fund (BAF), presenting the installation, “Tracking Down Intimacy.” BAF is a nonprofit organization that provides grants to Black artists in the United States. The group exhibition showcases 14 images by the photographers Chanell Stone, Edward Cushenberry, and Kendall Bessent.
From the press release, “From day one of our partnership, Fotografiska was thrilled to explore the work of our grantees. They believe, as strongly as we do, that the amount of Black talent is not commensurate with their representation within museums and galleries. As corporations and institutions, our responsibility is not only to recognize this discrepancy, but also to actively course correct. For the Black Artist Fund, Tracking Down Intimacy is an example of just that. This exhibition is an opportunity for art about intimacy—made by Black artists with Black subjects—to live and communicate within the museum context.”
