With Project SURFACE, photographer Søren Solkær aims to portray the most significant figures in public and street art, both on the contemporary scene as well as the pioneering figures. The Danish photographer began the project in August 2012.
“The nature of street art excites me. I am drawn towards its aura of secrecy and darkness. The mysterious and illegal aspects definitely triggered my curiosity,” says Søren Solkær.
Søren has photographed over 70 artists within half a year, in locations stretching the globe – including Copenhagen, Stavanger, London, Newcastle, New York, Sydney and Melbourne. The book will be finished in 2014, so stay tuned to his website for more details. Enjoy a gallery of some of the artists he has shot so far, as well as a BTS video.
