Copenhagen-based photographer Bobby Anwar brings a bold, expressive voice to the world of street and portrait photography. The son of Pakistani immigrants, Bobby’s creative path has spanned dance, design, and videography—eventually leading him to photography, where he found his visual language.
For this Visual Q&A, we asked Bobby 11 personal questions. His answers are told through both words and images, capturing the soul behind the lens.
Who are you?
Bobby Anwar, born and bred in Copenhagen. Son of Pakistani immigrants. Brother of four, father of two, husband of one. Creative in graphic design, videography, and photography.

Why photography?
It’s been part of my creative journey. I drew when I was a kid. I danced when I was a teenager. I took a graphic design degree when I became a man. All of this led me to photography. I had to find my creative language. That’s what photography is to me.

What is your trademark photographic style?
I don’t have a specific style. I love to shoot, whether it’s street photography, portraits, landscapes, or something totally different. As long as I can shoot, I’m happy. Photography is my experimental playground.

What truly inspires you?
Cinema. Movies, light, and shadows.

Where do you go when you close your eyes?
In a better world.

Where is home for you?
Home is where my wife and kids are.

How would you describe your lifestyle?
Now my life is pretty normal. I spend as much time with my family as possible and really cherish those moments. In my younger days, I was a wild child.

What makes a great shot?
A shot that evokes a feeling in you. It doesn’t have to be perfectly executed—just as long as it makes me stop and look.

What gear do you prefer to use?
I shoot on Leica M cameras. For video and content creation, I use Sony.

How do you view the world?
Normally positive. But there is a lot of cruelty and inhumane acts going on right now that I wish I could do something about. The world is unbalanced.

What is an important lesson you have learned?
Work-wise: Don’t f*** yourself by underestimating your work.
Life-wise: Don’t trust everyone. Not everyone is your friend.
