Nick McManus is a documentary photographer in New York City, where he graduated from Hunter College. Nick shoots instant film, produced by The Impossible Project. Nick started as a filmmaker, where he “learned how to wrangle large crowds, expose film in poor conditions and use his camera in various, unpredictable locations.”
Nick’s first photography show was in 2017 at Manhattan’s Ace Hotel. Shortly after that, Nick began to write for New York Magazine’s culture website, “Bedford + Bowery.” Nick is known around New York for attending multiple and various events nightly and documenting large crowds. What gives it the personal touch is that he gives one to every person or organization he records for every set of photos Nick takes. This action creates a bond with the people he photographs, and his work becomes a part of their lives.
