PROFOLIO (NSFW): Caique Silva

Caique Silva is a self-taught photographer from Salvador, Bahia. Caique began taking photos at the age of 10, and by 15, he had exhibited in London, Italy, and France. His photographs have been featured in Vogue Italia, Creators Magazine, and Wolford Magazine. Currently, Caique is being documented by Google Brazil in an ongoing process. Caique says that his goal in creating his work is to explore the “unconscious through the connection with nature.” We asked Caique to walk us through some of his best practices in this PROFOLIO…

Photo 1- This picture has a special "q" for me, we were at her house, talking about life, and we talked about the light that shines in each of us, about the space that each of us needs to shine, and that's where came the idea of the photo.

Photo2- I thought of bringing something that revealed her beauty as she is, and making her see herself, her curves and all that surrounds her. After this rehearsal we sit and cry together, a special moment where, after years of not looking in the mirror, she can see herself powerful.

Photo 3-I met this woman in a very strange way, sent an email saying that I would love to shoot her. the day after hours she responds to me excitedly, we did the rehearsal and for the first time felt at home while photographing her.

Photo 4- This was one of my first portraits, and for me it's the most special, it reveals a lot about me, about her, today, this portrait runs the world, and has over 4 million views on Unsplash.

Photo 5-One of the portraits I was most proud of, this portrait was exhibited at the Black and White Building in London by Creative Debuts, I was the only Brazilian in this exhibition. But not only for that but for all the atmosphere that surrounds it.

Photo 6- That was a tiring day, we took pictures all day and there was nothing coming out that I said WOW! And so I waited for dark so I could play with the light I had. This picture took the Vogue Italia seal, I call it Terra e Agua.

Photo 7- I have a special affection for this portrait, I took this picture in 2018 of a friend while he was doing the hair with my friend, I pulled the phone from my pocket, there was something at that moment that I feel was the right time, I took the picture, and 1 A year later I could see the truth in her.

Photo 8- I took this foot in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was on the green line of the subway and saw the distant look of this gentleman, he was in a physical space, but was not really there.

Photo 9- Exotic and unique, so I define it. I did this picture at the end of a shooting for a brand of soda, we were tired, but still had the breath to take a picture that reveals her true self.

Photo 10- In my work I always talk about the connection with the invisible, and about the personal and interpersonal connections that I make as a photographer. This guy has a unique soul, a way to live and to show himself to the world he had not seen yet, he had never been portrayed, I made the proposal and he accepted, the result was amazing.
