To Portuguese photographer Rui Palha, photography is a challenge to capture the bustle of everyday life and a way to learn about the world. Since age 14, Palha has devoted his time to street photography and to long-term sociological projects in problematic neighborhoods of Lisbon.
In a recent interview Palha states, “I need to say that I am not so good at expressing my feelings nor my thoughts through words. I prefer try to do that through images.” With this in mind, we asked Palha 10 questions, and asked that he respond only with his images:
Who are you?
Why photography?
What is your trademark photographic style?
What truly inspires you?
Where do you go when you close your eyes?
Where is home for you?
How would you describe your lifestyle?
What makes a great shot?
How do you view the world?
