Raj Mohan is a travel and landscape photographer based out of Chennai and currently living in Bangalore, India. Raj has attempted to capture the diversity of his culture for over a decade through his image-making process. He is particularly fond of utilizing the technique of aerial photography.
His series titled Flamingos captures the migration patterns of the birds in their search for warm wetlands. This series focuses on Lake Pulicat in India; it is one of the largest brackish water lagoons supporting rich biodiversity & high biomass of fish and plankton.
Raj states, "The never-ending sea of pink due to tens of thousands of flamingos was dreamy. Also, flamingos being social birds, always stay in flocks/colonies and stick together for various reasons (to avoid predators, maximize food intake & use nesting sites efficiently). Their behavioral traits were impressive & while capturing them from an aerial perspective, the movement of flocks forming different shapes was nothing less than art."
