Susan Burnstine’s series, “Absence of Being,” depicts major metropolises, in a surreal and dreamlike environment. Susan creates her award-winning images, utilizing homemade cameras and plastic lenses. Her monograph, Absence of Being, was published by Damiani Editore in Fall 2016 and won first place for the 2017 International PhotoBook Awards. Susan says, "These images capture fleeting memories, spotted from the corner of an eye that vanish the moment we turn to really look.”
