Artist inspiration

The first photographs people were taking mostly happened during the beginning of the industrialization period; this is what served as my inspiration for this series. I started thinking about how today, photography is more accessible and ubiquitous than ever before. In fact, everyone is surrounded by it, with most people taking photos of random things all the time.

I contrasted this with these huge, steam-powered camera cities and factories in which photography literally permeates every aspect of daily life, bringing the machine to the fore. It’s all about efficiency, production and growth.

The cameras depicted are based on real concept drawings of analog Leica cameras. My goal was to create hidden details, little stories, and interlocking mechanisms everywhere for the viewers to discover.
