Timothy Duffy is a wet plate photographer who has been recording and photographing musicians across the South since age sixteen. He and his wife, Denise, also founded the Music Maker Relief Foundation; to aid musicians in need. His current series is a monograph published by UNC Press in association with the New Orleans Museum of Art, “Blue Muse: Timothy Duffy’s Southern Photographs.” Timothy’s work has been featured in TIME Lightbox as well as the NY Times LENS Blog. Duffy’s photographs are in permanent collections of the National Gallery of Art, National Museum of African American History and Culture, the New Orleans Museum of Art, Northwestern University, University of Minnesota, and the Morris Museum of Art. We ask Timothy questions, questions that could only be answered with images…
Who are you?
Why photography?
What is your trademark photographic style?
What truly inspires you?
Where do you go when you close your eyes?
Where is home for you?
How would you describe your lifestyle?
What makes a great shot?
How do you view the world?
What is an important lesson you have learned?
