The opening night for the Ans Westra exhibition, "Urban Drift," at Anastasia Photo (NY) was full to the brim. Each individual around the room seemed enthralled with the story that the pictures were telling. Ans Westra is a Dutch / New Zealand photographer. The images on display, pictorially portray the narrative of the Maori culture in New Zealand, over a period of 60 years. The black and white photos give the viewer glimpses into the everyday lives of each individual. From the press release, "Westra's historical work has resounding relevance in the current climate of diaspora and cultural pluralism."
