Juan Martinez is a father, engineer and photographer. He is also one of the founders of the Beers And Cameras. Beers And Cameras came about when Pocholo Francisco sold Juan a camera lens through a Craigslist ad. Pocholo and Juan began meeting up in local breweries in San Diego, to chat about their photographic experiences. After awhile, Juan decided to start an Instagram account, in order for the developing group to post their photographs and invite new people to join their community. Juan states, “There really wasn’t a grander vision for Beers And Cameras meet-ups to serve as another option to online forums. They essentially started as organic ways of not just talking about gear but getting to touch, feel and experience other people’s gear, while most importantly connecting with a fellow photographer in person over a social beverage like beer. It’s community, building at its most grassroots level and countless friendships have been born all across our chapters due to meeting in real life.”
We asked Juan questions, questions that could only be answered with images…
