Through February 29, Danziger Gallery has on view the first US exhibit of Swiss photographer Senta Simond. Senta’s black and white compositions center around portraiture and an intimate approach with the female body. The images are sensual and voyeuristic. The models that she uses are her close, long time friends. This relationship allows her to cross the invisible line, which stands between the photographer and the model.
Senta states, “The equipment is simple and we, the subject and I, form a trust. This minimal method allows me to get close to my subject. I try to catch the subjects in subtle and intimate moments. Also, being a woman photographing women helps me to capture these intimate images - and that was something I wanted to explore.”
Senta’s work has been nominated for the Aperture / Paris Photo First Book Award. Her debut artist book is titled “Rayon Vert.”
