The Photo Chapel was an epic 40-foot tall Gothic cathedral, adorned with photography, which was burned to the ground at the Burning Man festival. We caught up with photographer Michael Garlington who created the Photo Chapel – the first project in a series of Chapel photo sculptures:
Michael says, “In my work I'm always walking the line between humor and pretentiousness; I take serious subject matter and regurgitate it with a wink and a smile. I build sculptures to encase the photos, yet for the Chapel series the sculptures burn by the end of the event!”
Take a look at some of the photos from inside the building, as well as the final shots of the chapel!
