Xavier Portela’s series: Glow, is a dystopian, sci-fi anime come to life. Xavier’s photographs aerially capture New York City, utilizing neon effects. Xavier says, “Initially Glow was a collection that I created with the ambition to get back the atmosphere and feelings you get when you visit those cities (Tokyo, Bangkok, New York).” After the series began, Xavier began to play with the colors, wanting the photographs to look as if they came straight out of a Japanese manga. Xavier is a self-taught photographer and filmmaker currently residing in Brussels. Glow has been show cased in more than 30 countries and has been published in various photography, design & architecture magazines.
