Anastasia Photo currently is exhibiting online photographs of William Meyers, “Music New York.” Each photo depicts in black and white contrast the nuance of various musicians that parade the city-scape of New York City. Each image reflects the diversity in the culture that surrounds the separate boroughs. For more than two decades, William photographed the New York scene, and the eighteen images on display result from that. From the press release, “New York has always had a rich musical culture. Now, as always, there are a large number of immigrants in the population, and they bring the music of their native lands. Because it is a center of aspiration, talented and ambitious musicians come hoping for careers in opera, musical comedy, classical music, jazz, and all genres of pop.”
William was born in 1938. He is a New York-based photographer often featured in the Wall Street Journal. He has been published in ARTnews and the New York Times.
