Christian Vizl is an underwater photographer born in Mexico City. He has been featured in National Geographic’s Blue Hope Book, My Modern Met, and WIRED. In 2019 he published his first book, “Silent Kingdom,” which won a gold medal in the books/nature category at the BIFA awards (2019). He has also exhibited at the Museo del Agua (2019).
After two years of silence, Christian revealed his newest series, I am Water. The series investigates the oceans of the earth in dreamy tones of sepia. He states, “My passion goes beyond just the artistic side of a photograph, and I am more interested in using them to bring hope and benefit the Ocean, the Planet and all its living beings by creating awareness to the dire problems of todays world through beauty, a universal language. I do my best daily to be conscious and responsible for my consumption and actions. Traveling and diving impact the environment, and if not done respectfully, it can stress the animals, too. Hence, I created this new series with 99% recycled images (of previous trips) and just one I took while free-diving from shore. This approach allowed me to dive deeper into the ever-changing nature of our perceptions, and through a new vision, explore the meaning of the reality of the interconnectedness and interdependence we all share in this planet as a way to spark a shift in our consciousness that can lead us to more positive actions towards us and everything around us, and a more loving and caring person towards all other living beings.”
