Sous Les Etoiles, is a Soho based gallery, run by founder and Director Corinne Tapia. The current exhibition is titled, “1947, Simone De Beauvoir in America.” The concept of the show is based on the French philosopher, Simone De Beauvoir’s published diary, “America Day by Day.” Corinne curated the show, with the book in mind. Her aim was to translate Simone’s encounter pictorially. In a press release, Sous Les Etoiles, states, “In January of 1947, the French writer and intellectual Simone de Beauvoir (1908-1986) landed in New York’s La Guardia Airport, beginning a four-month journey across America.” Photographers included in the exhibition are: Ansel Adams, Ferenc Berko, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Esther Bubley, Morris En-gel, Louis Faurer, William Gottlieb, Sid Grossman, Martha Holmes, Sy Kattel-son, Saul Leiter, Rebecca Lepkoff, Fred Lyon, Wayne Miller, Gjon Mili, Wayne Miller, Ruth Orkin, Arnold Roth, Art Shay, Fred Stein, Tony Vaccaro, Brett Weston, Ida Wyman, Max Yavno and Tobb Webb.
